A FEW THOUGHTS FROM BUDDY

I have been a working musician since the age of fourteen, and have played with many bands over the years.  My first job was with a band that played “Beach” music in the early 60’s.

I was inspired to become a musician by accidentally turning on the TV on a rainy Saturday afternoon and seeing Earl Scruggs play “Wildwood Flower” on a flat-top Martin guitar, holding the guitar up to his ear with his eyes closed.  Until that unforgettable moment I thought I was going to become a professional baseball player and play for the Yankees.

When I finally got my first mail order guitar I learned my first chords by watching Lester Flatt, Porter Waggoner, and The Wilburn Brothers, and listening to and playing along with the Grand Ole Opry on Saturday nights.  It wasn’t much of a guitar, my fingers blistered and bled, but I stayed with it and have never stopped playing.

I have played Rock’n’Roll, Country, Bluegrass, Gospel, Renaissance, Folk, Standards, and Traditional Mountain Music over the last forty-some years, and have enjoyed every note.

At this time I have started another band with some extremely versatile and talented musicians.  We have a great time playing together, and hope you will come and have fun right along with us as we perform some great American music.

I am also blessed with the opportunity to play and sing with my daughters and grand daughter in several long-running area Folk Festivals.

I hope you enjoy our Web Site.  Visit often.

    ABOUT BUDDY AND THE BAND

BUDDY DAVIS  has played and recorded with a virtual who’s who of well known musicians, including Doc & Merle Watson, Sam Bush, Jethro Burns (of Homer and Jethro), David Holt, Marc Pruett, Roy Clark, Jan Howard (of the Grand Ole Opry), Chubby Wise (Great Fiddler), . . .the list could go on and on.

Buddy currently fronts his own band, operating with a four-piece nucleus with Buddy on vocals and guitar;  Jeff Robbins on bass,  John Humphries on lead electric and acoustic guitar and mandolin, and Michael Baker on percussion.  The band is extremely versatile, having the ability to play many styles of music from Americana, Traditional, Classic Country, Standards, Folk, and, with the addition of a Bluegrass banjo player and fiddler (we are networked with several great ones!) the band is capable of playing Bluegrass that will “burn the barn down.”

Another aspect of Buddy’s music is his ability to provide music on the classical guitar, partnered with any combination of instruments you wish for weddings (with the band available for the reception.)

The Buddy Davis Band brings state of the art audio equipment whenever they perform, suitable for any size event or venue.  The band is committed to making music that is pleasing to the ear.  Being too loud is NOT an option.
